floating away . . .

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
Shoulda worn a helmet, Liz. Poor girl, run down on her bike by a taxi and now she's on the cruise to ELSEWHERE. It isn't easy coming to terms with being dead and it's even worse to learn that you'll now be aging backwards in order to be born again. That's it. For Liz that means no driver's license, no career, no first love, no future. Or does it? Luckily, her grandmother (breast cancer), her favorite rock star (heroin overdose) and her new best friend (drive-by) are there to help her negotiate the complications of the afterlife. Like what happens when you fall for someone who is now seventeen, but once was older, and then, just to make things really difficult his middle-aged wife shows up.
